Satprem wrote The Tragedy of the Earth - from Sophocles to Aurobindo in 1995, describing the arc of humanity from the ancient times to Sri Aurobindo. Between an Occident which does not believe in its mechanical power over matter and a post-Vedic Asia which does not believe in its freedom from matter, we must rediscover our own divine powers over matter, our immortal reality - or perish from our own powerlessness. This is the cosmogony of the world which unfolds like a Greek tragedy; it is the earth which must escape its own walls or be vanquished once more.
