Since the earliest of times music has held such a deep fascination in the human spirit that man has tirelessly continued to create new instruments and master them, to work on his voice in search of perfect expression and new harmonies, letting inspiration guide him in an attempt to create the most beautiful works. But where does this inspiration come from, which enables certain among us to bestow masterpieces upon humanity that, centuries after their birth, continue to lift our spirits? What is, or what should be, music’s true role? The articles in this collective work, produced in association with the International Rose-Cross University, offer original explanations and experience on the role of music in the specific domain of spirituality. They explore the contribution of brilliant musicians and also examine the behaviour of the listener, who cannot remain purely passive if he wishes to fully benefit from music’s more subtle influences. Furthermore, these articles analyse the importance of interpretation, which is essential, as much for the production as for the reception of musical work.
