This book explains why it is our distorted images of ourselves that make us suffer. From our early years, we develop our personality based on what we think others expect of us, to make them love us, thus suppressing our true nature. But it is possible to heal ourselves by regularly practising meditation and mindfulness. While meditating, we gradually let go of the fears and beliefs on which our ego was built and attain our deep being. Practising meditation creates an inner place of peace that makes us feel confident in all circumstances. Dr Yasmine Liénard offers us exercises to listen to our emotions without judgment and to learn to love ourselves just as we are, to be in our body with full awareness, without letting our thoughts go around in circles, to learn to accept to do nothing, to take a break, to connect with our true being. She also an activist for a new form of psychotherapy, using less medication and more meditation and mindfulness sessions. Using numerous real-life examples from her experience as a psychiatrist, she shows the benefits of meditations.
