Agate is a form of quartz with a very fine grain that is formed in volcanic regions. It is polished and tinted to accentuate its naturally appearing lines. Celebrated in Greek mythology, et is connected to the Goddess Gaia, creator of the Earth and protector of nature. In lithotherapy, blue agate is considered to have calming properties.
