In a dialogue entitled Critias, the Greek philosopher Plato retraces the fate of Atlantis and explains that the Egyptians were the first to document its story. This would have actually been cryptically consigned to the walls of several temples. The version at the Temple of Edfu, discovered in 1860 by the French archaeologist Auguste Mariette, was to be the sole survivor anywhere in Egypt. This version of the history of Atlantis is thought to have been based on truly ancient papyrus: the tablets or registers of Thoth. Anton Parks translated and offered commentary on the Temple of Edfu texts mentioning the doctrines and rites of Atlantis, as well as the Great Cataclysm detailed by Plato, which destroyed the island. A spellbinding work showing us the way to Atlantis.
