Akhenaten’s reign (1370 – 1352 BC) overturned religious and political life in Egypt. He abandoned the cult of all deities of the pantheon and imposed the worship of one God, the sun disk Aton.
He ordered the building of a small temple next to the temple of Amun; archaeologists found this fragmentary head of the pharaoh Akhenaten in its ruins.
