Environmental specialists are convinced that our society is currently facing fundamental questions. In the course of this book, the authors explain the origins of the world, our planet, its constituents, climate, living creatures - including humans, who are influenced by their environment as much as their psychology - and the idea of nature and the environment. They also discuss the consequences of our actions on our surroundings, offering different perceptions of humanity's relationship with nature across a range of cultures and philosophical systems. Finally, a question will be posed for the reader: what would desirable progress really consist of? You will be invited to reflect on the necessary interactions between biology, ecology, chemistry, economy, sociology, philosophy, law and political science which determine our environment, and ultimately, our future.
