On 7th April of the year 30, a man is murdered at the gates of Jerusalem. Two days later his body disappears from his tomb. What happened? And who was this man, Yeshua Ben-Joseph, known as Jesus? Centuries have passed, powerful Churches have been formed on the memory of this man, an incalculable number of pages have been written on the subject. Given the weight of so many years and the extent of the dogma, is it still possible to extract a new truth? This is the task undertaken by Michel Benoît. With scientific rigour and theological know-how, he examines the unexpected ramifications, reveals all the hypotheses on the murder of Jesus and the personality of certain apostles. His conclusions transform the vision we hold of Christ and shed further light on the birth of the Christian church. Lastly, the author explores the life of Jesus in light of another religious tradition, thereby opening up an avenue of promising research: could the experience of Siddharta, the Buddha, enrich our approach to Yeshua Ben-Joseph, a God in spite of himself?
